Frequently Asked Questions

Have Questions? We Have Answers.

What is a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner?
Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRN) earn a master’s or doctoral degree in psychiatric-mental health nursing. An APRN can assess, diagnose and treat individuals with psychiatric disorders using their full scope of therapeutic skills.
Do you prescribe medication?
Yes, my practice is focused on evaluation, diagnosis and the management of psychotropic medications.
Do you provide psychotherapy?
While I provide brief psychotherapy as part of our visits together, many of my patients also see a therapist for more in depth or specialized types of therapy.
Can you recommend a therapist?
Yes, I can recommend a therapist and offer other means by which you may locate a therapist to meet your needs.
What is Telepsychiatry?
Telepsychiatry is safe, secure HIPAA-compliant telehealth video conferencing. While I conduct most of my appointments by way of telehealth, I can see you in the office if there is a need.
How do we connect for appointments?

It is very simple. At the time of your appointment, you will go to this link.

Enter your name and “knock”. As soon as I am ready, I will open the session. You may connect using a computer with webcam and audio, a tablet such as an iPad, or a cell phone with a camera. There is nothing to download and no advance registration.

What is the typical wait time for an appointment?
I believe when you need an appointment for a mental health issue, you need it now, not later. I maintain schedule openings for new patients each week and I strive to see new patients in a matter of days. If your new appointment is urgent, please let us know.

I schedule follow up visits with you at the conclusion of each appointment. The time between appointments depends on how you are doing and your progress. This may be as often as every one to two weeks initially and eventually as infrequently as every 3 months. This may depend on the type of medication you are taking. If an urgent need arises, we will make arrangements as soon as necessary.

Can you see patients anywhere in the US?
My practice is currently licensed to treat patients in Florida.
What insurances do you accept?
I have limited the insurances I accept so that I may be accessible and responsive to my patients’ needs. I accept self-pay patients. I am a contracted provider with Medicare, Cigna, Humana, Aetna, United Healthcare, Optum, Avmed Florida, and Oscar.

If you have a different insurance plan, most insurers provide reimbursement for out-of-network providers. I will provide you with the paperwork needed to send to your insurance company to reimburse you for a portion of the fees you pay privately.

I’m ready to begin! How do I get started as a patient?

Contact us here. We will get back to you right away to schedule your appointment. You will receive intake forms to complete via email which will include demographics, insurance information if applicable and a payment method. There is nothing to print or scan and the forms return directly to my electronic health record. Everything is private and HIPAA-compliant.
